Panama City Beach Tourism has increased during hurricane season.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — Hotels in Panama City Beach have received phone calls from tourists about the weather.

Panama City Beach has not received many phone calls or reservations from evacuees in South and Central Florida. Hotels in Panama City Beach said they were ready to accommodate if evacuees came.

“I understand that the governor and others involved are kind of recommending people not to come up north and kind of go west to get away from it,” the director of the Operation Greater Panama, Colby LaDuke. “It may play a part in things, but luckily for us business will be business as usual.”

Panama City Beach hotels said earlier this week that many visitors want to cancel their vacations. However, as Hurricane Ian grew clearer throughout the week, requests for cancellations ceased.

Duty Manager for Origin Hotel, Reef Hotel, Seahaven Beach Hotel and Palm Grove Hotel Grace Joseph, said everything is relatively normal for this time of year and has even increased.

“The kids are back in school, it’s a bit quieter,” Joseph said. “That makes it great for holidays, you can have your spot on the beach; there are a lot of people here. »

Hotels advise visitors to be prepared for all types of weather, even if it is sunny, windy or rainy during their stay.
