While the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris attracts visitors from all over the world, a family almost did not participate.

Zuleika Pilling from Brighton, England, UK, had her Disneyland Paris holiday derailed after her daughter’s passport didn’t arrive in time, potentially leaving the family close to £3,000 (about £3,600 $) out of his pocket.

Pilling told the Mail online:

“Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t happen because of our country’s passport system. Mickey Mouse could certainly provide better service than its employees working from home.

The mother-of-two described how she had to make additional payments of over £300 (around $355) to resolve the passport dilemma, a cost incurred on top of the £2,300 (around $2,700) already spent on the four-night vacation at Disneyland Paris. Pilling, who was also traveling with her partner, recounted the constant stress and obstacles she encountered, including “dozens of calls” and “radio silence”, trying to make her family’s dreams come true.

“It was a disaster from start to finish. They keep telling me they can’t do this and they can’t do that because they’re working from home. It’s ridiculous.”

The trip was to be a surprise for the family after Pilling’s children passed their recent exams:

“It was a surprise. My kids are teenage adrenaline junkies. They love rides but my daughter couldn’t do them because she had brain surgery three years ago. She finally got the green light since Christmas. It was meant to be a real double whammy celebratory trip. They went to Disneyland about 10 years ago and loved it so much they always wanted to go back.

She went on to detail how the nature of her relationship with the Passport Office took its toll:

“They just say I have to wait for the upgrade team to call me. It seems quite chaotic. They seem everywhere and on top of that I get charged for calling them.

” I can not believe it. Why can’t someone find out what’s going on and talk to me? Why don’t they have the right systems? If you work from home, you should have the right databases at home. It’s been two and a half years since Covid, surely they should be a bit more operational now. It is very frustrating. I have no idea what we’re going to do. I am a little lost. We’re supposed to go on vacation on Monday and I got nothing, nothing, nothing. I hear this is a very common theme. It’s quite shocking that they get away with it. »

Her Majesty’s Passport Office suffered from an intense backlog of passport applications with more than five million Britons facing delays and three million applications being processed between March and May.

After the difficult few months that Ms Pilling and her family have been through, the Daily Mail intervened on the family’s behalf with the Passport Office saying that her daughter’s passport would be available in London on July 16, two days before their trip Reserve. to Disneyland Paris via the popular Eurostar train service.
