Nestled between Mary Margaret’s Irish Tavern and Top Slice Pizzeria is downtown’s newest late-night restaurant, and it has all the right greasy fare.

Black Cattle Burger Co.—from the brains of local rrestaurateur Shan Bakrac and Benson Hospitality Group—open today at 17 3rd St N. in the 200 block of The Burg’.

Juicy smashburgers are the star of the Black Cattle menu, but chicken sandwiches, hand-breaded chicken tenders, fries and salads are also on offer. While her burgers are customizable, there are a few specials like her “Black Pearl,” which comes with two patties, cheese, grilled mushrooms, pickles, and truffle aioli. And there is also soft serve ice cream for dessert.

The burger joint’s motto is “We’re reclaiming the classic,” and Benson Hospitality’s Corey Rose says that their burgers “are the perfect blend of chopped chuck, brisket and short ribs that need nothing but classic yellow American cheese to make it one of the best burgers you’ve ever tasted”.

Black Cattle Burger Co. is now open 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Follow his new Instagram page on @blackcattleburgers for the latest on the new downtown burger spot.

Black Cattle Burger Co. is the new concept of Bakrac and the Benson Group, who are the same people who recently announced the opening of its new upscale Asian restaurant Fortu. The fusion steakhouse will open this winter in the former Ceviche space in downtown St. Pete and will feature a Japanese-inspired menu. Bakrac opened Top Slice Pizzeria — its first restaurant and neighbor to Black Cattle Burger Co. — in 2018, as the new burger restaurant and upcoming fusion restaurant are its second and third concepts in St. Petersburg.
