Bay Area Ice Cream Shop Humphry Slocombe Opens New Store

In April, San Francisco ice cream brand Humphry Slocombe announced plans to open a new location at Emeryville’s Bay Street Mall. This week, this opening finally takes place.

The new ice cream shop held a soft opening on September 3 and officially opens to the public on Tuesday, September 13, as first reported by the E’ville Eye. Humphry Slocombe will celebrate the grand opening by handing out free scoops of ice cream to all who visit Sept. 13 between noon and 7 p.m. (with an optional $1 donation to the nonprofit Open Hand Project).

It’s the first of six new restaurants slated to open on Bay Street this fall as part of the mall’s upstairs dining transformation into the new “Bay Break Dining Terrace.”

Arthur Mac’s Little Snack, Sababa, Flybird Chicken, Uchiwa Ramen and Shake Shack are the other five restaurants slated to open soon. In addition, fire pits, outdoor seating and bar games will be available to diners. A beer bar and mini-golf course called Flatstick Pub are also coming, along with a virtual reality game called Sandbox VR and a Claire’s.

Humphry Slocombe also opened a Redwood City store earlier this summer, the local chain’s first location on the peninsula. Emeryville will be Humphry Slocombe’s sixth glacier.

The ice cream parlor also kept busy this summer by collaborating with its new San Francisco Ferry Building neighbor, Señor Sisig. The two companies colluded to create a new “churron” ice cream flavor, which is a mix of churro and turon (a popular Filipino fried dessert usually made with bananas). The innovative flavor is available at all Bay Area Humphry Slocombe stores.

Humphry Slocombe, 5614 Bay Street, Suite 234, Emeryville. Grand opening on September 13. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
